And She (Finally) Flies!

Runway? What Runway?

Life is full of surprises. In KSC, it's not an exception - besides Gene would probably prefer otherwise.

Unfortunately it was realised KSC's Runway is not strong enough to withhold the weight of Super Jumbo Jets, as the (late) 2nd prototype for the newest K380/900 MAX clearly demonstrated: while rotating, the stress transmitted to the pavement by the main gears exceeded the parameters and things became very interesting very very quickly.

Fortunately only a skeleton crew (Flight Commander, Copilot, Flight Engineer and Com/Nav Officer) were crewing the (supposedly) maiden flight so the casualties were minimal: essentially 4 total lost seats, 4 underware sets beyound salvage and 4 shaken Kerbals vowing to never fly again.

Another Crisis Management Committee was summoned and after intense debate (where Mortimer yelled about insurance costs and Gus complained a lot about not having enough staff to fix everything all the time), and after long debates about the ethically of using Cheats, it was decided that a Procurement will be issued to:

  1. Backporting and Installation of Code Hot Patching tools to the current KSP Version
  2. Reverse Engineering Kerbin Physics
  3. Patching the Runway code to withheld more abuse

That's when Bill raised his hand and said, "Bollocks, I have a faster and cheaper solution!", took his tools and scrambled with some other engineers to the SPH where the 3rd prototype was laying.
