Well, first, the mea culpa, mea maxima culpa:

• I have a history with that guy, and I let it leak on my initial shot across his bow - in a slightly less than ideal way...
  • I think that shot ended up hitting an innocent bystander, by the way.
  • Really, shame on me on that one.

From that point,

1. Unsurprisingly, he doubled down.

2. I stood my ground, from this point trying to keep things rational - but answered him in kind on every abuse, directed to me or not.

   1. Politeness doesn't work, it only makes you look weak.
      1. Sadly.

3. Some bystanders made some jokes, at this point they were essentially following suit with the OP.

4. A few ones tried to echo what I had said - I think one of that dudes could be a kid or a teenager

   1. And that one was abrasively confronted by my favorite asinine.
   2. And, yes, this was the point I really got triggered and decided to go for his throat. I'm fine with him unleashing his misbehaviour on me, because I don't mind answering in kind (again, shame on me), but I get really, really mad when people do it with youngster that don't know yet how to react to this kind of crap.

5. From a certain point, you will find that people started to step up to bury the discussion. I suspect that some of them were Flying Monkeys coming to the asinine's rescue, but I'm absolutely sure that a lot of them were just normal bystanders getting annoyed by the noise, not caring about what was happening as long it would stop so they would not be annoyed by it.

   1. And here is where the problem is: people that should be vexed by an asinine's misbehaviour become annoyed by you exposing him.
   2. My very first thread on this Forum (at that time, I was really naive on how I behave) also demonstrate it, but I wanna use new shinier arguments instead of bring moldy ones from the attic. :)
